Hall of Fame Paintings
Renowned sports artist Opie Otterstad, has been a partner with the Sports Authority Foundation and the Harris County - Houston Sports Authority since the inception of the Houston Sports Awards and Houston Sports Hall of Fame.
Opie is licensed by MLB, sanctioned by the NBA, NFL, and NHL, and has commissioned thousands of works for professional athletes, teams, musical artists, and presidents.
One of the more unique traditions with the paintings created by Opie for the Hall of Fame is the honoree's handprints on the paintings themselves. Each year on HOF Day, the incoming class has one of their hands painted and then pressed on the original print instead of a signature. It is a concept Otterstad came up with before the first year of inductions and was inspired by musician and photographer Mick Fleetwood.
