CLYDE DREXLER
CLASS OF 2022

Clyde was known for his electric bursts to the rim and high-flying dunks, so what better way for painter Opie Otterstad to represent his career than to show Clyde soaring past Shaquille O'Neal in the 1995 NBA Finals. Originally painted during Clyde’s Rockets career, this version is larger and slightly updated, according to Otterstad.

The 1995 season was a dream come true for former UH teammates Drexler and Hakeem Olajuwon, who later said, “We would get together and it would be like, ‘Man, can you imagine if we ever got back together? I’ll bet we could win it all if we did.” And they did just that, defeating the Orlando Magic in a four-game sweep to secure a second consecutive championship for the city of Houston.
