EVENTS & Initiatives
The Sports Authority Foundation provides sports-focused resources, events, and education to our region’s youth and empowers the Harris County-Houston community through sports-related events and programs.

Abilities in Motion
Abilities In Motion is a program through the Sports Authority Foundation focused on providing sports and educational programming for youth and adults with physical disabilities. Its inaugural event, Adapted Sports Day, partners with TIRR Memorial Hermann and is currently held annually.
Youth and adults with disabilities from all over Houston join to participate in various sports coached by Paralympian athletes. Educational sessions are also hosted for adults and parents interested in learning more about local programs, grant opportunities, and how to navigate the pathway to college.
Olympic & Paralympic Day
Olympic & Paralympic Day is a celebration of the Olympic & Paralympic movements and the joy of sport by millions of people around the world. Held annually on June 23 and known worldwide as Olympic Day, the USOPC worked in partnership with the International Olympic Committee and International Paralympic Committee to recognize the day as Olympic & Paralympic Day in the United States, beginning in 2020. The day celebrates fitness, well-being, sport culture and educational opportunities, while promoting the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect, and the Paralympic values of determination, inspiration, courage and equality.

Houston Sports Hall of fame
The Houston Sports Hall of Fame was created in 2018 to honor sports legends who either played their careers in Houston or call H-Town home.

Each honoree is recognized with a bronze plaque on the Walk of Fame in downtown Houston and a commemorative painting by artist Opie Otterstad. Each Hall of Famer is also given a custom ring created by Fred Cuellar & Diamond Cutters International and a Hall of Fame jacket created by Knot Standard.
