PAST EVENTS & Initiatives
The Sports Authority Foundation was created to serve the Houston community. Along with our hosted events, we wanted to do more to help our community. The Foundation was involved with and supports the following events and initiatives.
World Transplant Games 5k anyway
When the World Transplant Games was cancelled, the Harris County - Houston Sports Authority in partnership with the Sports Authority Foundation created a way for the world to come together virtually with the 5K AnyWay that will unite transplant recipients, donors and donor families, health care workers and supporters from around the world and raise awareness for transplantation.
BMX STEM ProgrAM
Welcome to BMX 101, a hands-on program that plans to reach 20,020 Houston-area school students in 2020. It's part of the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority's broader BMX outreach that's happening in conjunction with the opening of the new Rockstar Energy Bike Park.
Tidwell Park Redevelopment
Playground funding was provided from the NCAA Men’s Basketball Committee and the 2016 Houston Final Four Local Organizing Committee.
Hurricane Relief
The Sports Authority Foundation knew they needed to help when Hurricane Harvey devastated the city of Houston. Along with the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority, The Foundation helped serve the city by providing shelter, raising funds, coordinating rescue boats, and much more. The Foundation also helped our friends in Florida by sending a team with supplies, when Hurricane Irma hit just two weeks later. Houston is our city, and we will always be here to lend a helping hand!
