Hall of Fame Paintings

There was never a question that the Dream Shake would be the focal point of Hakeem Olajuwon’s painting. He perfected that shake and fade on the baseline, leading the Houston Rockets to back-to-back NBA titles in 1994 and 1995.

 

“That,’’ Opie Otterstad said, “was the only way to show him.”

 

Otterstad also snuck in a few references to those titles – the first two championships for the city. He has Olajuwon shooting over the New York Knicks’ Patrick Ewing and the 1994 NBA Finals banner in the background. Before he became an NBA Hall of Famer, Olajuwon starred at the University of Houston, where he helped the Cougars to three Final Fours from 1982-1984.
