WARREN MOON
CLASS OF 2024
From 1984 to 1993, Warren Moon established himself as one of the greatest quarterbacks of his era, and he did so by wearing a Houston Oilers jersey. In 1990, Moon won the NFL's Offensive Player of the Year award after passing for over 4,000 yards and 33 touchdowns. The 9-time Pro Bowler left the Oilers as the franchise leader in passing touchdowns, yards, attempts, and completions, all records that still stand today.
After his years in Houston, Moon went on to play with the Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks, and Kansas City Chiefs. In 2006, Moon was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Moon’s success on the gridiron extends far beyond the NFL. After a successful college career at the University of Washington, where he helped lead the Huskies to a Rose Bowl victory, Moon signed with Edmonton in the Canadian Football League. While in the CFL, Moon helped lead the Eskimos to a record five consecutive Grey Cup victories, winning the Grey Cup MVP award in the 1980 and 1982 championships. During this time, Moon also became the first professional quarterback to pass for 5,000 yards in a season by reaching exactly 5,000 yards in 1982.

In addition to the honors mentioned, Moon has won the CFL's Most Outstanding Player Award and NFL Man of the Year Award. He is also in the Texas Sports Hall of Fame and had his Oilers #1 jersey retired by the Tennessee Titans in 2006.
Kevin Gilbride was the Oilers Offensive Coordinator during Warren Moon's time in Houston. At the 2024 Houston Sports Awards, Gilbride presented Moon for the Houston Sports Hall of Fame.
Off the field, Moon's impact extends far beyond the game. He has been actively involved in multiple charitable endeavors, using his platform to make a positive difference in the communities he supports. The work he has done has helped provide scholarships, educational opportunities, and support to individuals all over the world.
