He was quiet, and he was soft-spoken, but when Andre Johnson spoke, his teammates listened!  A Houston legend both on and off the field, Johnson was the first honoree inducted into the Houston Texan’s Ring of Honor and is arguably the greatest Houston Texan of all time.

Drafted the third overall pick out of the University of Miami, Johnson spent 12 seasons with the Texans and holds nearly every franchise receiving record.

From the second he stepped onto the field, Johnson was a force to be reckoned with. In his rookie season, he started and played in all 16 games, racking up 66 receptions for 976 yards and four touchdowns. He was named to the NFL All-Rookie Team.

By 2010, Johnson had become the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history. It was also the year he had the famous altercation with Tennessee Titans cornerback Courtland Finnegan that resulted in Finnegan ending up on the wrong side of the mild-mannered Johnson’s wrath.

During his 14-year NFL career, Johnson was a 7x Pro Bowler, 3X First-Team All-Pro, and 3x AFC receiving yards leader. He is the only player in NFL History with 60+ receptions in his first eight seasons, five with 100+ receptions, and is ranked 11th in NFL history in receiving yards.

In 2015, Johnson left the organization and was contracted with the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans during his last two seasons in the NFL. On April 19, 2017, Johnson was welcomed home as he officially signed a one-day contract to retire as a Houston Texan.
